Effective Drug Rehab

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR

Drug Rehab Florida | Alcohol Rehab Florida Here at Destination Hope, our combined decades of addiction counseling experience has given us the ability to structure effective drug rehab programs that adhere to the widely accepted principles of what makes drug treatment effective. We believe that three factors in particular separate Destination Hope from many other treatment centers and we believe these factors are significant contributors to our success.

TREATMENT CENTER SIZE

Our treatment center is only 18 beds, giving us an advantage over larger centers. As a small treatment program we are able to give more personalized attention to our clients, which leads to closer relationships and by and large better outcomes. Have a look at what Patrick had to say about his drug rehab at Destination Hope by clicking on the following link: drug rehab testimonials. Patrick's experience is not unique in that we at destination Hope strive to offer our clients the attention they need but never received at some other treatment centers.

GENDER SPECIFIC TREATMENT

Destination Hope operates both a men's drug rehab program and a women's drug rehab program. In each case, men and women do not interact with other clients of the opposite sex during treatment. We believe that the separate programs eliminate some of the distractions and reservations that come with meeting and living with the opposite sex. We believe this approach to treatment offers a better chance to succeed in drug rehab.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

Here at Destination Hope we believe that the family is an integral part of the drug and alcohol rehab process. Indeed treating the addiction is not enough. We understand that underlying social and family issues must be resolved or improved as well, for the greatest chance of success. We place significant emphasis on both treating the individual and counseling their family and loved ones to achieve the best possible outcomes.

EFFECTIVE TREATMENT PRINCIPLES:

The following list of effective treatment principles is published courtesy of NIDA, the National Institute on Drug Abuse. According to NIDA, scientific research since the mid–1970s shows that treatment can help patients addicted to drugs stop using, avoid relapse, and successfully recover their lives. Based on this research, key principles have emerged that should form the basis of any effective treatment programs. While each client has his own set of challenges, these treatment principles broadly reflect that which will be most effective for the largest number of addicts:

  • Addiction is a complex but treatable disease that affects brain function and behavior.
  • No single treatment is appropriate for everyone.
  • Treatment needs to be readily available.
  • Effective treatment attends to multiple needs of the individual, not just his drug abuse.
  • Remaining in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical.
  • Counseling—individual and/or group—and other behavioral therapies are the most commonly used forms of drug abuse treatment.
  • Medications are an important element of treatment for many patients, especially when combined with counseling and other behavioral therapies.
  • An individual's treatment and services plan must be assessed continually and modified as necessary to ensure that it meets his or her changing needs.
  • Many drug–addicted individuals also have other mental disorders.
  • Medically assisted detoxification is only the first stage of addiction treatment and by itself does little to change long–term drug abuse.
  • Treatment does not need to be voluntary to be effective.
  • Drug use during treatment must be monitored continuously, as lapses during treatment do occur.
  • Treatment programs should assess patients for the presence of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases as well as provide targeted risk–reduction counseling to help patients modify or change behaviors that place them at risk of contracting or spreading infectious diseases.
